Klaus Merten has revived the old tradition of Seiffen incense smoker making. At Klaus Merten's workshop, incense smokers are handcrafted according to Seiffen models. The motifs chosen for the smokers are figures from the immediate surroundings, village life, and even people from other cultures—always people with whom one has a good relationship. From miners in traditional parade attire, but also in work clothes, to craftsmen such as wood turners, carpenters, or glassmakers, to almost every profession like chimney sweeps, captains, or merchants, a seemingly endless array of smoking figures has emerged, now comprising a collection of over 100 characters.

Genuine Erzgebirge craftsmanship, with its centuries of tradition behind it, is rare. Made  by Dregeno - a cooperative of woodturners from Erzgebirge. Every one is an original. based in the toy village of Seiffen where Erzgebirge craftsmanship all began in 1919.

The toy merchant has a wide selection of small dolls, animals, houses, jumping jacks, and much more that will delight children! All the toys are lovingly handcrafted in the Ore Mountains and are now being carried on the merchant's back to their destinations! With such a selection, the toy merchant is sure to have great success on his sales tour! On his way to his customers, he enjoys smoking his pipe, leaving a fragrant cloud in his wake. Just like the making of wooden toys, the figure of the incense smoker also has a long tradition in the Ore Mountains, a tradition continued by Klaus Merten from Seiffen. All the items in his assortment are crafted using traditional techniques and woods from the Ore Mountains.
