This stunning etched glass vase is a reproduction of a handblown and etched Kalana Lily vase originally made in a glasshouse founded by Christian Dorflinger in the early 1900s. It is in exquisite shape with no chips or scratches noted and is a large but subtly elegant statement piece with etched flowers and leaves defining its lithe form.

Measurements : 5.5” x 14”

Many works by the company Dorflinger founded, C. Dorflinger and Sons, are held in the collections of major museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, which produced this replica for its store in 1985, on the occasion of June Dorflinger Hardy's gift to the museum of an original Kalana Lily vase (c. 1905-15). It can be seen on their website here: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/9328

As the description that came with the replica (included) notes, the "frosted pattern of broad, pointed leaves and flowers on graceful stems is in the spirit of Art Nouveau, a sensuous, fluid style of decoration that originated in the 1880s and reached its height of popularity in the early 1900s."

The original is currently on view at The Met in gallery 706.
